Volunteering at the Park

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Park has many opportunities for volunteers on an individual or corporate basis. We often have interesting projects underway and are always happy to have help with these. And on a day-to-day basis there are many routine but interesting jobs to be done. Volunteers who share our passion for wildlife are always welcome at the Park, and come from all walks of life.

Contributions by volunteers are an integral part of our conservation work.

The Kiwi Birdlife Park is a family run wildlife reserve right in the heart of Queenstown. We are completely funded by admission fees, sponsorship and donations. Volunteers are a huge asset to the park, and to our conservation work.

We try to find jobs for volunteers based on their skill set and interests. The duties our volunteers undertake are varied, and include leaf litter collections for our kiwi houses, feeding and enrichment for our kea, managing our insect breeding colonies, planting native trees and plants around the Park, preparing food for our animals and helping with enclosure upgrades.

Releasing Red Crowns

Releasing the kākāriki into their new enclosure.

Volunteers from the Scenic Hotel Group complete painting work on the new Red Crown kākāriki walk-through aviary.
