We'll miss you heaps tess. Thanks for all the help ... See MoreSee Less

Yesterday was my last morning volunteering at the Kiwi Birdlife Park before heading up to the North Island to continue the NZWL pollution awareness mural tour. I have loved helping out the crew to look after some of the most amazing species in New Zealand. I was lucky enough to hold Rex and tuatara who is 31 years old!! For those of you who haven't gone yet it's a must do!! As well as viewing the precious kiwi and other bird life, the new tuatara wing is fantastic. You can also check out the "Zackery Tuatara" mural: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zxa7gYB02qo Paul Kavsey Bonnie Wilkins Sophie Olsson-Pons Jennifer Rose Clark Nicole Kunzmann Bianca Mattson Jema Haydec Ryan Cartlidge

Kiwi Chick Jan 2017 (9 photos) ... See MoreSee Less

Kia ora little kiwi chick! The @[116635258395657:274:Kiwi Birdlife Park] Birdlife Park #Queenstown are delighted to announce that we hatched a kiwi chick on the 18th January. The yet to be named chick hatched on the anniversary of Noeleen Wilson, who helped to set up the park. Staff are delighted as this chick definitely beat the odds, having had a membrane collapse at day 69 and also being malpositioned (like a breach birth in humans). This little fighter needed some assistance to fix the collapsed membrane and also need help to hatch but has bounced back really well. We are still awaiting the results of a sex test. This is great news for kiwi conservation as this chick will be released into the wild in the future to help boost their population. We would like to thank the Ishii family and all the team at the @[278990745335:274:Millbrook Resort, Queenstown] who have generously sponsored our kiwi chick and will help with the naming. More updates to follow!!
